Design is a widely used summary of almost everything, people from all industries have their take on what design is for them. Leading to it being quite an obstacle for the layman. However I have worked with design throughout my whole carrier and for the past +10 years I've been working, educating and businesses and students about the value of design and then not in terms of graphic design but rather Design Thinking as the basis for managing and innovating sustainable businesses. Despite that is have been made famous by the likes of HBR (Harvard Business Review) and other pretty successful companies such as Google and Apple there are still a majority of traditional business women and men who never have heard about it nor its tremendous benefits towards running their organisation better. Currently is choose the definition Business Design to be the most adequate of what I do in my profession.
This is a re-start of my blog and what could be better suiting to start with rather than a short summary about the Business Area area and closely related ones. What is the unifying touch points and what differentiates them?
* Business Design is the method that incorporates Design Thinking and Service Design's basic principles and models, but also provides the tools and methods for developing and testing a business model. At the same time, the difference between a service that is merely a marketing measure and one that is - sustainable business.
* Design Thinking is a method for the practical, creative solution of problems with the strategies that designers use under a so-called " design process. It has also been developed as an approach to solving problems beyond professional design practices, for example in business and social contexts.
* Service Design, involves planning and organizing both people, infrastructure, communications and other components around a service to improve its respect. The purpose is to enhance the customer's experience of the service.
The design process is a red thread throughout these 3 disciplines. The process includes different steps, including: defining the problems, exploring different possibilities, further defining ideas, designing prototypes and finally testing. The steps can occur at the same time and repeat. All these different principles are used today in modern management and also in the public sector, especially care and care.
The field where this can be applied are many and are widely used within modern business management but also public sector, especially health care. Companies that successfully work on this type of approach are i.e. Google, IBM, AirBnB, Apple, Amazon, Citibank Group.
